The origins of the Edrington Group, today one of the largest companies in the Scotch whisky industry, date back to the XIX century when the company was founded in Glasgow by the Robertson family. Edrington continues to operate with the Robertson family values of integrity, independence, involvement, innovation and full devotion to work.
Today Edrington owns some powerful brands such as The Famous Grouse, The Macallan and Highland Park. In 2008, Edrington acquired a major shareholding in Brugal & Co, the leading producer of golden rum in the Dominican Republic. In 2010, the Group acquired the renowned Cutty
Sark brand.
In 2010 the Edrington Group resorted to Bertolaso for the supply of a machine that might meet the needs of quality, devotion to the company’s work and production capability that characterise the whole Scottish company’s business.
In particular, for a specific sector with an added value product like Scottish whiskey, requests have been: no loss of alcohol content, optimum management of the product during bottling operations and top flexibility in the management of a high number of bottle and cap formats.
Bertolaso’s proposal, that has got a favourable and satisfactory feedback from the customer, was a corner monoblock, that excellently manages various cap formats and a filler equipped with filling valves dedicated to spirits.
These filling valves, equipped with parts made from plastic not to damage bottle neck glass, have been designed with a special geometry that enables quite a high production speed without sucking alcohol from the product, with electropneumatic controls to increase operation flexibility and with the possibility of managing 80 mm of level variation automatically.
This particular machine category, that has had a fast market feedback and has already been selected by other customers due to its reliability and flexibility, enables to have a very high integration combined with an extraordinary production potential that completely meet Edrington Group’s market needs.
